The Project

UnSettle: a research programme on urban displacement

A two-year programme examining intersecting processes and experiences of displacement in Greek cities.

Aim & Objectives

Placeholder. UnSettle aims to produce a comparative account of urban displacement in Greece, integrating fieldwork, mapping, and writing. Specific objectives include ethnographic research in three neighbourhoods, a spatial mapping exercise, and an edited volume bringing together scholars and practitioners.

Methodology

Placeholder. The project combines qualitative interviews, archival work, and participatory mapping. Three sub-streams — Narrating, Mapping, and Writing Displacement — run in parallel and feed into shared outputs.

Work Packages

  1. WP1 — Narrating Displacement. Ethnographic interviews and oral histories.
  2. WP2 — Mapping Displacement. Spatial analysis and cartographic outputs.
  3. WP3 — Writing Displacement. Working papers, journal articles, edited volume.
  4. WP4 — Public Engagement. Workshops, public events, podcasts.

Funding & Institution

UnSettle is funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (ELIDEK / HFRI) and hosted at EKKE — the National Centre for Social Research.
